Learn English Writing, 11

This is the plan to help my ESL students learn and improve their English writing skills.

  1. Start a new writing activity: Lost at Sea, a writing exercise that requires analysis, evaluation and critical thinking;
  2. Rewrite compare and contrast story (coke video);
  3. Rewrite short story that shows the inquiry approach based on the blind-folded people sitting around a table;
  4. Complete and rewrite the email lesson with a message about Smartphones.

ESL Writing Activity: Analysis and Evaluation

This ESL writing activity brings together many of the skills which we have learned so far this semester. Much like the email writing exercise, this lesson requires you to use real world, practical thinking skills in your discussions and writing.

This is an inquiry based learning task, so there is a question. You will also need to collect evidence, create rules and make conclusions based on that information. There is one more additional step: you will need to debate other people’s ideas, both speaking and in writing. In other words, you to make an argument by saying why the other person’s ideas are not as good as yours.
