Here are some speaking activities that we will use to help ESL students learn English conversation skills.
Make a List
Work with your partner. Write ten words for each list.
- things that are invisible
- things that come in pairs
- things that can be full or empty
Talk About Places
Look at the picture on page 43 of the book. There are many different kinds of stores. Make a conversation with your partner. Ask three questions about the store, the location and what you can find in that store, like these:
- Where is the music store?
- It is on the second floor next to the furniture store.
- What can you buy in a music store?
- People can buy music and CDs.
- How many songs do you have on your mp3 player?
- I have about 500 songs on the mp3 player
Talk for 20 Seconds
Look at the topics. Ask your partner to speak for 20 seconds about a topic. Change places. This list of topics is here.
