ESL Writing Lesson 1: Appositives

Appositives? Huh? Sounds hard, but it isn’t.

An appositive is a noun that describes another noun.

Appositives can be a single word or many words (a phrase). An appositive looks like a relative clause but there are no words like ‘which, who or that’ at the beginning of the clause.

Here are three examples; the appositives are in red.

Writing Class Week 10

It’s a short week of English classes, thanks to the long holiday weekend. Here are a few extensive writing activities to help ESL students improve their English composition skills.

ESL Intermediate Conversation – Week 9

Last week the ESL students practiced their English conversations skills during the mid term exam. Now its back to the English classroom to learn vocabulary, phrases, grammar and conversation skills.

ESL CONVERSATION WORKSHEETS

Here are some of the things we will learn and study in the conversation class.

  1. A simple grammar exercise, this ESL conversation worksheet helps students review questions and answers with TOO MUCH and TOO MANY.
  2. This reading and thinking worksheet has a few logic puzzles. Solve the problems and explain how you got the answer.
  3. This worksheet has a few public signs. Students read the signs, learn the vocabulary and explain the meaning of the signs.
