• started assignment #4: summarize the main idea in a coke ad, with compare and contrast
• started #5: summarize popcorn story

This Week

• start writing assignment #6
• write a summary of data

Writing Assignment #6: Food Data Summary and Analysis

This writing assignment asks you to do two things:

• look at the changes in the Korean diet over a 50 year period
• look at specific changes in food consumption with these tables
• summarize changes in food consumption (use chart 1 to get more information)
• explain the reasons for the changes

The total writing should be about 3 to 6 paragraphs. Your writing should be more than just a bunch of sentences. Like the stories we wrote before the mid term exam:

• there should be a beginning, middle and an end
• there should be a good intro sentence
• it should be a story

Writing Assignment #7: Understand Correlation and Causation

Does money buy happiness? That is the question to be answered in this writing assignment.

This writing assignment asks you to do many things:

• understand the difference between correlation and causation
• summarize large amounts of data
• combine several different sets of data
• analyze the data to find an answer
• learn to define key concepts in your summary
• think critically
• write well
