This week, the ESL students will apply the logical thinking skills they have learned so far this semester.

 Gore-Global-Warming-Lies

Step 1.

Watch the trailer for An Inconvenient truth.

In this case study, we are going to think critically about globally warming. In particular we will summarize and question a few claims made by Al Gore and in his presentation An Inconvenient Truth.

Watch a short trailer. This video summarizes some of the claims made by Al Gore in his movie An Inconvenient Truth.

Work in a small group. Make a list of 10 to 12 arguments made by climate change supporters. These arguments should include the causes, the effects and the future changes to be faced by humanity.

Write down your impressions of climate change.

PART 2

Work in small groups. Each trainee will read a claim made by Gore.

Do you believe these claims are reasonable based on your general knowledge, your experience, your understanding of arguments or understanding of scientific opinion?

Then your partner will read some information about the claim. Make notes.

PART 3

Make your own conclusion. What do you think about the main climate change argument?

PART 4

If we have time let’s watch and listen to a short clip (2:10 to 4:07). This clip has a few speakers. What are the main arguments of this clip?
