Learning English: What makes learning possible and efficient?

My advanced level ESL students are a great bunch of people. They seem interested in learning the English language. They also want to learn new ideas. In my view they have a great desire to learn what they need to be successful in life. So, I try to feed that desire for knowledge in many different ways.

Here is a blog post which provides some useful ideas. It is a list of 16 ideas about how to use the mind to learn well. The list comes from a Integrating the 16 Habits of Mind from www.edutopia.org. Practice English: Speaking Opportunities in Busan

Some of my students want to find places in Busan to learn more English. They want to practice and improve their English speaking skills. Here in Busan, Korea there are not lots of places to practice English.

Here is a list of some places to improve English speaking skills.

Toastmasters

Toastmasters is an internal club which helps people speak better. In Busan, there are three Toastmaster clubs.

The Centum club meets Tuesdays at 7.30 pm.

ESL Writing Lesson: Paraphrase and Vocabulary

This ESL writing lesson is has two sections. First, the students will finish the first paraphrase writing worksheets which we started last week. That exercise used synonyms to paraphrase sentences.

While working on the first few questions of that worksheet, I noticed the students had a hard time. At that time, I noticed the students struggled with the questions because they did not have enough vocabulary.
