Basic ESL Conversation Lessons: Week 10

This week the main topic of our speaking class is food with countable and non-countable nouns. The ESL students will learn English sentences that use how much, how many, there is a lot, there isn’t a lot. Plus other words and phrases.

How Much and How Many

These two ESL conversation worksheets help students learn English questions and answers with HOW MUCH and HOW MANY.

The first worksheet asks students to make past tense and present tense sentences with much and many.

The second worksheet is a speaking drill with six pictures. The key here is to make positive and negative sentences describing quantity with much/many and a lot and any.

Make questions and answers about the pictures with your partner like this.

  3. There aren’t many dogs.
  4. There aren’t any dogs.
