Mid Term Exam, Spring 2014
The midterm exam has two parts.
Part 1 Questions
You will get two questions from this list. Complete and logical answers that might earn a high score will require a minimum of two paragraphs, perhaps as many as five. Remember, the key point is to answer the questions fully, provide examples and be sure to define all key terms.
- Define and describe ideology. Be sure to include specific references from Malcom X and Karl Marx in your analysis.
- Evaluate this argument: legitimacy might be difficult, if not impossible, to sustain in a democratic society with a capitalist economy.
- Can we understand political actions (e.g. international relations) based on rational choice theory?
- Do you think the state is becoming weaker in an era of globalization? Explain your answer by referring, in part, to state features, functions and forms.
