Advanced ESL Conversation: Week 5

This week 5 of the semester for my ESL English students. They are making great progress. here is a list of a few of the things we will study this week.

Writing and Speaking Review

A short quiz and a long mid-term exam are coming soon. Now is a good time to review some of the material we have studied in class. It might be useful when my ESL students have an English test.

Here are a few questions.

  1. Write 3 or 4 sentences to describe a difficult sport. Describe the rules, objectives of the activity, number of players, location of play and equipment.

ESL Writing: A Simple Scoring Rubric

Anyone who teaches ESL writing knows there comes a time when student papers pile up on the desk and they have to be marked. The hard part, when faced with 30 or more regular submissions, is finding a way to give English writing students meaningful input without spending hours generating feedback.

A writing rubric is one possible solution.

Summary Writing Lesson: NPR Sleep Lesson 2
