Fall 2013 Beginner ESL Conversation: Week 12

This is week 12 of the semester. Next week, my ESL students will have an English quiz. Here are some worksheets and questions to help students prepare for the quiz.

1.VOCABULARY

Download this vocabulary worksheet. Students show be able to write four answers for each question.

2. Page 53 in the book. Section 8a.

Read the word or word in each question. Write a question and answer. The answer should have two sentences.

  1. enjoy
  2. love
  3. like
  4. don’t like
  5. can’t stand

Here is an example.

  1. enjoy
  2. Can you tell me something you enjoy?
  3. I enjoy hiking. I go hiking every Saturday.

3. DO – SEE – EAT – BUY

In the book, page 43.

You will read the name of a store. Write one sentence with do, see, eat or buy at the store.

Here is an example.

  1. furniture store
  2. People can buy a sofa in a furniture. 

4.MAKE COMPARISONS

In the book, page 42.

This page has 20 comparatives. In the quiz, you will read a few adjectives. You will write a sentence that compares two things.

Here is an example.

  1. pretty
  2. A cat is prettier than a dog.
