My students know I like to use logic puzzles, games and trivia in the ESL classroom.
These activities help build my students’ general knowledge, improve English fluency, upgrade vocabulary, strengthen problem solving skills….in English. And, they are fun.
Learning how to spell lots of new words can be a long, slow process for ESL students.
So, I’m trying a new technique. It’s flashcard learning from Quizlet. This lesson is for my advanced level students. It’s new for me. I will wait to see if the results are good.

Puzzles are great for the mind. Scientists say that puzzles can make your brain bigger and smarter. Many people believe that puzzles are a good way to learn a foreign language. That idea in the ESL world is called Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL).
I think puzzles are fun. So here is one page of puzzle questions for our food chapter.
