Business Trade English: Lesson 3

Today’s the last class for Business Trade English. So, let’s have a test.

Final Exam

The final exam will have 2 parts:

  • short speaking test
  • long writing test

Students will not be able to use a book or any papers during the exam.

Part 1 Speaking Test

The ESL English speaking test will be about 3-4 minutes per person. Each student will get 3 kinds of questions:

  • Daily life
  • What’s your favorite
  • Vocabulary

Answer format for Q1 and Q2

Make an answer with a full sentence. I will ask you a follow-up question. For example:

  • A: Do you walk to work?
  • B: No, I don’t walk to work.
  • A: Why not?
  • B: I drive to work because my office is far from my house.

Question 1 Daily Life

You will have 2 or 3 of these questions.

  1. Do you get up before 8 o’clock every day?
  2. Do you come here by bus every day?
  3. Do you read a newspaper every day?
  4. Do you watch TV in the morning?
  5. Do you have dinner after 8 o’clock?
  6. Do you have lunch with friends?

Question 2 Favorite

You will have 2 or 3 of these questions.

  1. What’s your favorite drink?
  2. What’s your favorite place to go on the weekend?
  3. What’s your favorite book?
  4. What’s your favorite sport?
  5. What’s your favorite animal?
  6. What’s your favorite food?

Question 3 Vocabulary

I say 3 word and you say 2 answers: the group name and 2 examples.

For example:

  • A: walk, run, jump
  • B: They are verbs. Two more examples are jog and swim.

You will have 2 or 3 of these questions.

  1.  Morning, night, afternoon
  2. Grass, leaves, trees
  3. Eyes, mouth, nose
  4.  Sea, sun, sand
  5. Book, magazine, newspaper
  6. Window, door, desk
  7. Short, trousers, jacket
  8. Verb, noun adjective
  9. Sister, mother, aunt
  10. Love, like, enjoy


Part 2 Writing Test

The English writing test has 4 kinds of questions:

  1. yes – no answers
  2. answers with THERE IS or THERE ARE
  3. answers to questions with DO
  4. email writing


Question 1 YES-NO

Write  YES-NO answers to the questions. You will have 2 or 3 of these questions.

For example:

  • Is it cold today? (no)
  • No, it is not cold today.


  • Do you have a pet? (yes)
  • Yes, I have a pet.


  1. Is she a good teacher? (yes)
  2. Do you own a car? (no)
  3. Are you busy on weekends? (yes)
  4. Is this room small? (no)
  5. Is the students in the library? (yes)
  6. Can you swim? (no)
  7. Are they hungry? (no)



Write answers with THERE IS or THERE ARE.  You will have 2 or 3 of these questions.

For example:

  • How many books are on the table? (1)
  • There is 1 book on the table.


  • How much rice is in the store? (5 bags)
  • There are 5 bags on the stores.


  1. How many students are in the class? (12)
  2. How many cups are on the table? (2)
  3. How many weeks are in a year?
  4. How much milk is in the fridge? (one bottle)
  5. How much water is in the bottle? ( 1 liter)
  6. How much tea is in the box? (15 bags)


Question 3 DO QUESTIONS 

Read a question with DO. Write an answer with a correct verb. You will have 2 or 3 of these questions.

For example:

  • What do you do on the weekend?
  • I like to read books on the weekend.


  1. What does she buy in Top Mart?
  2. When do they go shopping?
  3. When do you go to work?
  4. How will people go the Olympics?
  5. Where does Mr. Jones live?
  6. When do you eat lunch?
  7. What does your son do after school?
  8. What did she eat for breakfast?



You will write two business emails.

  • One email asks 3 questions.
  • One email answers the questions.
  • Good formatting (who, why, what, thank you, good-bye).
  • A list of questions and answers.
  • Make full sentence answers.

We practiced writing 3 emails. Here are 2 of them. One of these will be on the exam.
